6 of cups - Tarot

Tarot

Six of Cups

A wave, pleasure, harmony, and love. Feelings from your childhood arise.

Feeling secure, being held, being cared for and loved.

Become aware of everything associated with those feelings.

What role did saying and prayers play? How did they still work in your unconsciousness?

Choose the healing and the pleasant ones. With every wave you bring positive feelings into the present.

Allow yourself to be carried by the waves. Intimacy, openness, touching, and sexual pleasures.

Allow yourself to open up to other people on an emotional level.

Archetypes

The Destroyer

The Destroyer – the final of the three archetypes in the trio of existence – as necessary yet painful work to do in the world.

Culturally, we have an aversion to endings. And we hang on to permanence as a signifier of success.

Yet The Destroyer pulls the rug out from underneath relationships, jobs, homes, and all forms of security.

It’s the part of us that wants things to end. Its painful orientation is to uncover our true purpose.

The Destroyer does not let us linger long in comforts, as it knows not much happens in that realm. With its piercing eyes, it seeks out stagnancy from a distance and the rest…becomes history.

In the old myths this is the moment when heads begin to roll, the ground opens up, and castles crumble. Hold on for the ride – The Destroyer has arrived.

When light it is swift and precise blows that redirect our life. When dark it is self-destruction, negativity, unwillingness to rebuild.

55 – Abundance

This hexagram, known as Prosperity or Abundance, represents the union of thunder and fire, symbolising the flow of life between fullness and decline. Often, we feel victimised by the physical world, trapped by emotional turbulence, and long to transcend these states for higher spiritual experiences. However, this desire to escape can keep us stuck, as emotional struggles offer opportunities for healing. When unhappiness arises, it signals that we have forgotten our true nature as part of Source. In our search for peace or love, we cling to moments of fullness, hoping they will last forever. Yet, just as the Sun sets and the Moon wanes, both remain full, teaching that true abundance lies in the ebb and flow of life. Fulfilment exists even in emptiness, replenishing us from an inexhaustible source. True prosperity comes from accepting every emotional state as part of the journey. Our attitude shapes how we experience life’s changes, and when we trust in the process, peace remains at our core. The emphasis is on emotional abundance, revealing how mindset influences how we perceive the highs and lows of life. Prosperity is not found in hoarding or fearing loss but in allowing abundance to flow freely. By embracing life’s cycles, knowing that abundance always returns, we release the need to cling, and life feels less like a struggle. When we operate from a place of trust and gratitude, life fulfils us, no matter the external circumstances. This hexagram teaches us to recognise that everything is a reflection of our inner state, urging us to cultivate, share, and not hoard. In this way, we stand firm in the belief that life provides exactly what we need, trusting that every phase serves our growth and enlightenment.
