As the year’s first New Moon rises, this isn’t just a lunar reset—it’s a strong moment with multiple layers and levels of activation.
This lunation ushers in the Year of the Wood Snake—a fusion of wisdom, intuition, alchemy, and renewal. In Chinese mythology, the Snake was the Dragon that didn’t make it to Dragon status, he never ascended, embodying quiet wisdom and strategic movement. Unlike the Dragon’s bold force, the Snake thrives on grace, patience, and precision, making 2025 a year for calculated growth and transformation.
The Wood Element further amplifies this metamorphosis, bringing resilience, expansion, and visionary foresight. It nurtures long-term growth, encourages adaptability, and strengthens trust in cycles, empowering us to move forward with confidence and intuitive wisdom.
Other coinciding elements are that the day after this New Moon, Uranus the modern ruler of Aquarius stations direct, amplifying themes of transformation, innovation, and forward movement. Past visions can finally begin to take more roots, unlocking new energy, creativity and direction, all at the same time.
With Uranus now direct until September and set to enter Gemini in July, it’s full steam ahead for now; he drives innovation and the unexpected disruptions in our lives. Time to embrace change boldly, as these Uranian and Aquarian themes surge us forward, breaking old paradigms and pushing boundaries. Nothing is off-limits—we are being urged to expand our vision, challenge our perceived limitations, and step into the unknown with or without our fear.
Further enhancing this cosmic shift in forward motion, Jupiter’s direct motion from 5th allows expansion in whatever transiting house he currently occupies. This helps us grow in that area of our lives.
So whatever we have been revisiting with this Mars retrograde should feel progressively more free, at least for now. Yet a spanner in the works is that at the same time Venus (and Mercury) are slowing down preparing for retrograde. Venus is moving into its detriment sign of Aries. She will have a lot of back and forth time in Aries and Pisces, and these respective natal chart houses, until 6 June in fact, so there’s a lot to figure out there.
With so much activity and change running through all corners of our lives it’s a lot to negotiate, there’s the potential for overwhelm and breakthroughs.
At this New Moon with Venus now joining Neptune in the final degrees of Pisces, the tension between truth and illusion is more pronounced. Whether it’s slicing through external distortions to reach clarity or a dawning in our own personal lives, what emerges now is worth paying attention to—but rather than rushing to conclusions, allow events to unfold naturally. Staying close and present with what reveals itself now without getting swept away by assumptions or projections lets the truth emerge in its own time.
While this period of heightened Venus-Neptune intensity lasts only for a few days, it will resurface as Venus retrogrades over these same degrees in March, then stationing direct, lingering in this area for an extended time before going forward. Venus will also be within a couple degrees of Saturn’s orb for and entire month. This is a serious call to embodiment and realism.
But whatever emerges now is not an isolated moment but part of a broader cycle unfolding over the next few months at the very least. We are now looking at the broader picture for the first half of this year.
The current unveiling layers of truth are offering fleeting glimpses into the stark reality hidden behind distorted perceptions, illusionary halls, and veils of smoke and mirrors—particularly as we move into March, April and May. Pay attention to what lingers at the edges of your awareness, what feels unresolved or just out of reach, as these themes are likely to keep resurfacing for deeper clarity until mid year.
With Neptune shifting signs in March and both Venus and Mercury retrograding through March and April, the personal, relationship planetary retrograde energy is unusually strong for the first half of this year. Perhaps this encourages us to step away from relationships and focus on other things.
While now Mars retrograde cycle nears its end, its retrograde phase set the stage for a time of deep reflection, revisiting past desires, and realigning internally. There’s a winter-like stillness to this time—slow, introspective, and requiring patience even as we move toward April, despite all the expansion and innovation at our fingertips.
But staying more current, Neptune, Saturn and the newly transiting Pisces North Node are all putting pressure on the process of revelation, which seems endlessly ongoing, urging us to question what we take at face value and remain open to seeing beyond illusions. We just don’t have all the answers yet, but we are getting closer to accepting what we need to face.
Aquarius is the sign of visionaries, revolutionaries, and cosmic pioneers—always ahead of its time. It pushes beyond limits, shattering outdated paradigms and embracing transformation at its core. This is a call to break free, rewrite your story, and realign with what truly matters.
Picking up the impulse that we feel is now important, and we can trust what we feel, its time to cut to the chase, and stop dancing around multiple possibilities, but see what’s core to moving forward. What needs to be organised. It’s a powerful time for discernment also, for some. It’s a time when things need to dawn upon us, supporting us to move into the next cycle.
With the North Node now in Pisces, and a rare convergence of planetary energy gathering with Venus, Neptune, and the Sun weaving their way through this space in March, followed by Saturn’s arrival in May, this is like the beginning of the final act of Piscean themes; just know that there will be a massive encore in 2026. It’s not all done this year.
As the North Node now sojourns in Pisces, it will meet with Neptune shortly, stretching the fabric of reality, amplifying visions and dreams, some might be revelatory, others deceptive—but the underlying message is clear; discern between genuine insight and the shimmer and fantasy of illusion and wish fulfillment (which is disguised lack).
If all this culminating cluster of Pisces energy is making aspects to personal planets of yours then all this is particularly relevant for you and you might receive an intensified level of Neptune and Pisces themes of dissolution, confusion, surrender and transcendence. But all of us are affected in whatever house this cluster is in.
These final Pisces degrees are a mystical and dissolving space, where boundaries between blur, taking us into a deep spiritual surrender, emotional release, especially through grief or loss of what has been. It can be a nostalgic time where we are trying to come to terms with things, even if newness is arising in our lives, which is likely is with Pluto now permanently changed signs, we can’t escape the Neptunian push to let go.
Neptune also dissolves our sense of structured identity so we become more in touch with the true self. He brings a series of awakenings to deeper layers of truth. In a world built on the principles of human power and control, particularly fear of the Divine, rivalling the Divine, and more specifically, a rejection of the power of the Divine, this transit challenges us to shift toward deeper truth, compassion, and finally a reconnection with the Source of all that is.
One of the deepest challenges of Neptune’s final passage through Pisces is the call to fully embody Source rather than escape into it. The illusion of separation dissolves, but so does the fantasy that enlightenment means disengaging from the world—true spiritual integration requires presence, not avoidance.
Until Neptune leaves Pisces in 2026, we are being asked to ground divinity in the material realm, recognising that the sacred is not found in the transcendence of reality but in our daily, material lives, relationships, and actions. This is where we are all heading, becoming Source in real time and space. It is not about leaving the world behind, but about bringing the Divine fully into it, living it, and becoming it with every step we take.
